I thought we were barely making it out ahead of the big snowstorm the Thursday after Thanksgiving. Mom took us to the airport and we were surprised to find out you can get a pass to have someone come to the gate with you to help with an infant. Everything seemed fine until I received a text message saying my flight was canceled.
We went to the desk. The flight would land in Midland Texas but would not be going on to Dallas due to the ice storm. Luckily, they stopped our bags from getting on the plane and we went back to Grandma and Grandpa's. From the weather forecasts I last minute decided that if I did not leave the next morning we would probably not get back until Tuesday or Wednesday the following week. So somehow Mom and Bryan helped get us on the plane even though I made the decision just two hours prior to the plane's departure.
Here is Aubrey at the airport the day our flight was canceled. She did really well on the flight again and, thankfully, we were able to leave from Houston. It took us nearly three hours to drive home from the airport and we were blessed to do so safely given the reported 4-5 inches of cobblestone ice on pretty much all of the roads.
Bundled up together at home.
A bit of the ice had melted by the time I took these photos.
In CT, this would have been nothing, but, in TX, this pretty much closes everything down. We didn't have church on Sunday and Joe's school was still closed on Monday the ninth. Everything wasn't really melted until Thursday last week.
Ready for Santa though pretty sad the cute hat is far too small for her head.
